The concepts of structure and bonding, including covalent bonding, dipole moments, noncovalent interactions ( van der wasls, dipole-dipole, quadrupole-quadrupole, hydrogen bonding, charge transfer), conformational equilibria, stereosiomerism, electronic effects (resonance, inductive, and field effects), solvation, and dispersion in the solid state are applied to organic, inorganic and biological systems.
